How to Configure Thunderbird 2.0.0.0

  1. Click on Tools >> Account Settings... from the menu bar at the top of the screen.
  2. On the bottom left of the screen click on Add Account...
  3. Select Email Account
  4. Fill out Your Name and your Email Address
  5. Select IMAP and fill in the Incoming Server and Outgoing Server text fields with mail.pa.msu.edu then click next Next.
  6. Thunderbird automatically guess your username. It should be your PA NetID.
    ie. smithj@pa.msu.edu
  7. Name the account then click Next. Check to make sure everything is spelled correctly then click Finish.
  8. Under the Server Settings option click on Advanced
  9. Name the IMAP server directory mail and unselect Server supports folders that contain sub-folders and messages and Allow server to override these namespaces.
