PA RedHat: Mathematica fonts and Printing Issues
Problem:You're running Mathematica remotely and on startup recieve several errors concerning fonts. Additionally, certain fonts print incorrectly (incorrect characters). Solution:Font Errors: Install fonts locally and add them to the font server.Printing errors: Tell the printer to download the fonts. HOWTO:Font Errors: To avoid these errors, un-tar this file to "usr/share/fonts/". You must then add "user/share/fonts/Mathematica" to the font server located in "/etc/X11/fs/config". Once this is done, run the command "/etc/init.d/xfs reload" and you should be home free.NOTE: You may still get errors about fonts, but it is safe to ignore them now (cancel through them). Printing Errors: When printing in Mathematica, you must choose to download fonts to the printer, since very few department printers have appropriate fonts for printing integrals, etc. Look for a checkbox labeled appropriately when printing. |
