Connecting to Windows Servers in MacOS X

  1. Problem

How do I mount my user space on Jupiter-PA or the shared space on Saturn-PA using MacOS X?

  2. Solution

To connect to Jupiter-PA or Saturn-PA in MacOS X:

    1. Bring up the "Connect to Server" dialog. To do this, from the desktop press -K.
    2. In the "Address" field, type (without quotes of course) "smb://jupiter-pa.pa.msu.edu" for Jupiter-PA or "smb://saturn-pa.pa.msu.edu" for Saturn-PA.
    3. Click "Connect".
    4. Enter you PHY-AST domain username and password.
    5. On the "SMB Mount" screen, pull down the menu and select "Users" for Jupiter-PA user space or "Shared" for Saturn-PA shared file space.
    6. You should now see a new icon on your desktop. Open it and navigate to your personal user folder or your shared folder.
